Kathie Lee Gifford Says She Has No Plans to Remarry

Kathie Lee Gifford says she is not looking to date or remarry more than a decade after the death of her husband, former NFL star Frank Gifford.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the 72-year-old said Frank "will always be the love of my life," but added that she would remain open if "God wants to do something miraculous" and bring another great love into her life.

Gifford also reflected on the couple's marriage, including the 1997 revelation that Frank had been unfaithful. She said the two reconciled through counseling and that many people have since told her their decision to work through similar challenges was inspired by her experience.

Frank Gifford died of a heart attack on Aug. 9, 2015, at age 84. Kathie Lee recalled that emergency responders told her he did not suffer. She said he was "ready to go" near the end of his life.

She also said that after his death, doctors found he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a brain disease linked to repeated head injuries. The family donated his brain for research, and she said her son remains involved in efforts to advance CTE research and awareness.
