Maxie Leaves General Hospital as Kirsten Storms Remains Away From Show

Maxie Jones has officially left General Hospital, at least for now.

In Thursday's episode, viewers learned that Maxie had moved to Australia with Damian Spinelli and their children. The update was shared in a conversation between Cody and Molly because Maxie has not appeared onscreen for several months. The episode also revealed that Maxie transferred her shares in Deception Cosmetics to Michael.

Actress Kirsten Storms has not publicly commented on her character's latest storyline.

Storms briefly returned to General Hospital in February after a six-month break. During that storyline, Maxie woke from a coma and believed her late husband, Nathan, was alive, only to discover it was his twin brother. Storms last appeared on the show in March.

In June, the series explained Maxie's absence by saying she was traveling with family to the Grand Canyon. Around the same time, Storms said on Instagram that personal circumstances were preventing her from returning to work in Los Angeles. She said her Tennessee apartment had been broken into in November 2025 and that her daughter's well-being was her top priority.

Storms has also been involved in an ongoing custody dispute with ex-husband Brandon Barash over their daughter, Harper Rose. In April, Barash obtained a restraining order, citing concerns about Storms' mental health. Storms has also said her phone was hacked, and police confirmed an active investigation at the time.

In addition to her personal and legal challenges, Storms revealed that she was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm in January 2025. She has said the combination of her health issues and family responsibilities has made the situation especially difficult.
