Speaking on the Today show, the 40-year-old actor said he believed the villainous Antinous was a character who enjoyed luxury and pleasure, so animal-print undergarments felt fitting. He joked that the idea sounded ridiculous but said thinking deeply about a character is part of his job.
Pattinson also shared that director Christopher Nolan did not approve the costume request. Earlier, he told GQ that he wanted a bit of "sparkly fur" to peek out from under his costume, describing Antinous as "a little sleazy" and saying he took inspiration from James Woods' character in Casino.
The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, is now playing in theaters and features a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, Elliot Page, and John Leguizamo.
