Rosie O’Donnell says she is in talks for a daytime TV return

Rosie O’Donnell says she is negotiating a return to television with a new daytime talk show that would resemble her popular series from the late 1990s.

Speaking on the Tangle podcast, O’Donnell said her agents are meeting with potential partners for a full-time TV project. She said the show would focus on human-interest stories, positive news, games, Broadway performances and conversations, rather than celebrity promotion.

O’Donnell argued that audiences are less interested in celebrity culture than they once were, saying social media has changed how people connect with public figures. She also criticized current daytime and morning TV formats for relying on repetitive celebrity interview cycles.

She said she would be open to launching the show on a streaming platform, noting that the traditional syndication market has declined. O’Donnell added that she would prefer to begin the project after President Donald Trump leaves office, saying she hopes the show could help "bring back hope" and "an hour of peaceful joy."

Earlier this week, O’Donnell denied reports that she was seeking to take over Jimmy Kimmel Live. She confirmed she will guest-host the show in August but said she is not interested in late-night television. Instead, she wrote on Instagram that daytime TV "would be interesting."

O’Donnell hosted The Rosie O’Donnell Show from 1996 to 2002, winning 11 Daytime Emmy Awards. She later joined The View in 2006 before leaving the following year after a widely publicized dispute with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
