Rosie O'Donnell Reflects on Michelle Trachtenberg's Struggles Before Her Death

Rosie O'Donnell has spoken about the struggles Michelle Trachtenberg faced before her death.

In an interview with Variety, O'Donnell said she believed her former Harriet the Spy co-star had been dealing with drug and alcohol addiction. She said they lost touch over the years and that Trachtenberg became difficult to reach.

Trachtenberg died in February 2025 at the age of 39. Her death was later confirmed to have been caused by complications from diabetes.

O'Donnell called her death "a tragedy" and said addiction can be fatal if left untreated. She also spoke about her family's own experience with addiction, including her daughter Chelsea's recovery while serving a prison sentence.

The actress said she tried to help Trachtenberg by staying in contact with her and her family but wished she could have done more. She described Trachtenberg's family as loving and supportive.
