In a post on X on 26 July, Reynolds said the experience was a "gift" and thanked fans for their long-running support of the character.
"The fans got Deadpool off the ground so many years ago," he wrote. "I felt so lucky to be on the #SDCC floor with everyone whose unapologetic devotion brings so much joy to this world."
A video shared by Reynolds showed him arriving at the convention fully suited as Deadpool before posing for photos with unsuspecting fans, joking with cosplayers and meeting former wrestler and voice actor Robert Remus, better known as Sergeant Slaughter.
Reynolds said being able to walk the convention floor without security or barriers made the experience especially memorable.
Later, he appeared at Marvel's Hall H presentation for Avengers: Doomsday, where Deadpool is widely rumoured to appear, although Marvel has not confirmed the character's involvement.
Reynolds last played Deadpool in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine, which grossed more than $1.3 billion at the global box office.
