Savannah Guthrie Returns to Today After Brief Break

Savannah Guthrie returned to NBC's Today on Tuesday after taking four days off, with cohost Craig Melvin welcoming her back and noting she had enjoyed "some much-deserved time off."

Guthrie said she spent part of her break watching the FIFA Women's World Cup, telling viewers she had followed several matches and highlighted the France-Spain semifinal.

NBC did not provide any additional reason for her recent absence. PEOPLE previously reported that it was unrelated to the ongoing disappearance of Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Nancy, 84, disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona, home on Feb. 1, and the investigation remains active. Following her mother's disappearance, Guthrie took a two-month leave from Today before returning in April.

Since then, Guthrie has spoken publicly about her family's search for answers, describing the ordeal as deeply painful and urging anyone with information to come forward. During a June broadcast, she made an emotional appeal, saying her family could not find peace without knowing what happened to her mother.

The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff's Department continue to investigate the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to Nancy Guthrie's recovery or the arrest of those responsible.
