Dave Franco Reveals ‘Now You See Me’ Cast Once Feared the Movie Would End Their Careers

Dave Franco has revealed that he and his “Now You See Me” co-stars once feared the first movie would be a career mistake.

Speaking on “Hot Ones,” Franco recalled that after the first day of filming, the cast went to dinner and jokingly “cheersed to the end of our careers” because the production had been so chaotic.

Their concerns proved unfounded. Released in 2013, “Now You See Me” became a hit, leading to a sequel in 2016 and a third film, “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” released in November 2025.

Franco, who plays magician and pickpocket Jack Wilder, said the experience taught him not to predict how a movie will perform. “I’ve learned over the years to never have expectations,” he said, adding that successful films now come as a pleasant surprise.

Franco is currently starring in the comedy “Idiots,” which opens Aug. 28. He also voices a character in “Forgotten Island,” arriving Sept. 25.
