Dolly Parton Laid to Rest in Private Family Service

Country music legend Dolly Parton was laid to rest on Aug. 28 in a private ceremony attended by close family members, her niece Lainey Mae Parton confirmed.

Lainey Mae shared the news in an emotional social media post, remembering Parton as a loving aunt who always supported her dreams and made her feel confident and valued.

“I feel incredibly lucky that I got to call her my granny,” Lainey Mae wrote, thanking Parton for her love and encouragement. She also said she would miss her aunt’s voice, laughter, hugs and early-morning phone calls.

Parton’s family gathered at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville for the burial, according to reports. Her representative had previously said Parton wanted a small, private service for immediate family.

Parton died on Aug. 25 at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer. Her death was announced by her nephew and former security chief, Bryan Seaver, who said she died surrounded by loved ones at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.

Tributes from fans and fellow entertainers, including Reba McEntire, Lily Tomlin and Miley Cyrus, followed the news of her death.

Parton’s family has asked fans to make donations to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library instead of sending flowers.
