Speaking on SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning, the 53-year-old rapper said his addiction led to multiple seizures and a three-week coma. During his recovery, Dr. Dre offered encouragement, while Eminem stepped in to fund treatment and arrange a private rehabilitation program.
According to Kurupt, Dr. Dre relayed Eminem’s message: “Tell Kurupt I love him,” while assuring him he could recover away from the spotlight. Kurupt said the gesture came “out of nowhere” and described it as deeply meaningful, expressing gratitude to both artists for their support.
The revelation highlights the long-standing bond between the rappers. Eminem previously praised Kurupt as one of hip-hop’s greatest lyricists in his 2002 hit “Till I Collapse.”
Eminem has spoken openly about his own recovery journey following a near-fatal overdose in 2007. In his 2025 documentary STANS, he reflected on embracing sobriety after initially struggling with addiction, calling it his “superpower” and saying he is proud to have overcome it.
