Jodie Sweetin Says Her Relationship With Candace Cameron Bure Is Like Their ‘Full House’ Sisterhood

Jodie Sweetin says her real-life relationship with Candace Cameron Bure is similar to the sisterly bond their characters shared on “Full House.”

“Just like any family, it’s up and down,” Sweetin told SheKnows. She said she and Bure have opposite personalities, much like their characters, Stephanie and D.J. Tanner.

Sweetin and Bure starred together on “Full House” from 1987 to 1995 and later reunited for Netflix’s “Fuller House,” which ran from 2016 to 2020.

The two actresses have different political and social views. Bure is a conservative Christian and supporter of President Donald Trump, while Sweetin is a progressive who has publicly supported LGBTQ+ rights.

Sweetin said those differences have not prevented her from maintaining a relationship with Bure. “I can still have a relationship with her where I can hug her when I see her. I love her,” she said on the McBride Rewind podcast in April.

Sweetin added that she respects Bure’s right to hold and express her own views, even when she strongly disagrees with them. Bure has also said she maintains friendships with people who have different beliefs from her.
