Joey Bragg Recalls Blacking Out at Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s House: ‘Worst Memory’

Actor Joey Bragg is looking back on one of the most embarrassing nights of his career—and he’s doing it with plenty of self-deprecating humor.

The Liv and Maddie alum recently shared an Instagram video recounting what he called his “worst memory”: blacking out during a wrap party hosted by Hollywood couple Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick after filming ABC’s Call Your Mother.

Bragg, who starred alongside Sedgwick on the sitcom, admitted he has a history of drinking until he blacks out.

“I have a hard time drinking and not blacking out,” Bragg joked. “I know that’s probably a problem... but I’m just gonna keep doing what I’m doing, which is blacking out at B-list celebrities’ houses.”

The actor recalled arriving at the Hollywood Hills home with co-star Sherri Shepherd, only to struggle to find the entrance.

“I don’t know if you guys know this about rich people, but they don’t have front doors,” he joked, describing how a garage door eventually opened to reveal Bacon standing there in denim from head to toe.

Bragg had nothing but praise for the veteran actor and his wife.

“He’s a really nice guy. Super cool. I love Kyra. I love Kevin,” he said.

According to Bragg, the evening was going smoothly until Bacon picked up a guitar and asked if anyone knew how to play the mandolin.

Confidently volunteering, Bragg claimed he could play the opening of R.E.M.’s classic hit Losing My Religion after briefly learning it years earlier from his brother.

But the confidence quickly vanished.

“As soon as he handed me the mandolin, I was like, ‘This feels alien to me. I’ve never held one of these ever before,’” Bragg recalled.

He took one more sip of his drink—and that’s where his memory ends.

“Gone. Blacked out. Do not remember the rest,” he admitted.

Bragg also joked that the aftermath may not have left the best impression.

“After my show got canceled, both Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon unfollowed me on Instagram,” he said.

Call Your Mother premiered on ABC in 2021 and starred Sedgwick as an Iowa mother who moves to Los Angeles to be closer to her adult children, played by Bragg and Rachel Sennott. Despite its cast, the comedy was canceled after one season consisting of 13 episodes.

While Bragg still doesn’t know exactly what happened after taking the mandolin, he appears able to laugh at the unforgettable—and largely unremembered—night.
