Kelley Wolf Opens Up About Mental Health Crisis and Apologizes to Estranged Husband Scott Wolf

Kelley Wolf has spoken publicly about the mental health crisis she experienced last year, saying doctors diagnosed her with “breakthrough drug-induced mania with psychosis.”

The former “Real World” star, 49, shared the diagnosis on Instagram Friday. She said doctors, therapists and psychologists determined that a combination of stress, past trauma, hormonal changes, hallucinogens and prescription medications contributed to what she described as a “perfect storm.”

Kelley said the episode left her feeling as though her “brain had been hijacked.” She also apologized to her estranged husband, actor Scott Wolf, and others affected by her behavior.

“I am so sorry,” Kelley wrote, acknowledging that she put Scott through a “nightmare that wouldn’t even fly in a movie script.” She also said that many of the things she posted publicly during the crisis were “not based in truth or reality.”

Kelley and Scott, 58, announced their separation in June 2025 after 21 years of marriage. Scott later filed for divorce, calling it “the most difficult decision of my life.”

Soon afterward, Kelley was placed on a psychiatric hold at a Utah hospital. She later faced allegations of online harassment and doxxing and was arrested in August 2025. In September, she was admitted to a mental health facility and placed under a court-ordered involuntary psychiatric hold for at least 60 days.

Looking back on the past year, Kelley said it took time to understand how serious her condition had become.

“It’s been a year since I recognized what everyone around me could see: I was not well, and I needed help,” she wrote.

Despite their separation, Kelley and Scott have appeared to be on better terms in recent months. Earlier this year, they reunited with their three children for a family outing at Universal Studios. Scott previously called 2025 the “hardest year of my life” but said their family deserved a chance to move forward from what had been an “awful dark place.”

Scott also appeared to support Kelley’s decision to speak publicly about her experience, responding to her Instagram post with five red heart emojis.

The couple married in 2004 and have three children: sons Jackson and Miller and daughter Lucy.
