Lefty Gunplay Arrested in Missouri on Assault Charge

California rapper Lefty Gunplay was reportedly arrested in Springfield, Missouri, on Saturday morning on a fourth-degree assault charge.

According to TMZ, police booked the rapper, whose real name is Franklin Holladay, around 8 a.m. on August 29. The arrest came hours after he performed in Springfield on Friday night.

Details about the alleged assault, including who was involved and what reportedly happened, have not been released.

The arrest is the latest legal issue involving Lefty Gunplay. In February 2025, he was arrested in El Paso, Texas, after police stopped a vehicle he was riding in for a seatbelt violation. Authorities reportedly found nearly 65 grams of methamphetamine during the stop. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and bringing a prohibited item into a correctional facility, and was released after posting a combined $35,000 bond.

The following month, Lefty was arrested outside Rolling Loud California and missed his scheduled performance at the festival.

Lefty Gunplay is known for appearing on Kendrick Lamar’s “TV Off,” from Lamar’s 2024 album GNX.
