Meghan Markle Reportedly in Talks for Role in Netflix’s The Gentlemen

Meghan Markle could be returning to acting, with reports that she is in early talks for a role in Netflix’s hit drama The Gentlemen.

The Duchess of Sussex, 45, is being considered for a part in the Guy Ritchie-created series, according to PEOPLE. The show’s second season is set to premiere on September 3, while a third season is reportedly expected to be announced soon.

The talks are still at a very early stage. Deadline reports that discussions are ongoing, while The Hollywood Reporter says the role is still being written. It is therefore not yet clear how many episodes Meghan could appear in.

If the deal goes ahead, it would mark her most significant acting role since she left the legal drama Suits. Meghan played Rachel Zane on the series from 2011 until 2018. She filmed her final episodes in late 2017 before marrying Prince Harry and stepping away from acting.

At the time, Meghan described her departure as the beginning of a “new chapter.” She later told Variety in 2022 that she was “done” with acting.

However, she has since returned to the screen. In 2025, Meghan filmed a cameo as herself in Close Personal Friends, a project starring Lily Collins and Jack Quaid. She was spotted filming in Pasadena, California, in November 2025. A source described her as relaxed, friendly and “down-to-earth” on set.

A potential role in The Gentlemen would also bring Meghan back to Netflix, where she and Prince Harry have maintained a major creative partnership since 2020.

The couple signed a deal with the streaming service to produce documentaries, scripted shows, films and children’s programming through their production company, Archewell Productions. In 2025, Netflix and the Sussexes announced that their partnership would continue under a multi-year, first-look agreement covering film and television projects.

Their previous Netflix projects include the 2022 documentary series Harry & Meghan, Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus and Polo. Meghan also fronted the lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, which ran for two seasons and included a holiday episode.

The Gentlemen is set in England and follows Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James, after he unexpectedly inherits his family’s estate. Eddie soon discovers that the property is connected to a huge cannabis operation. The series also stars Kaya Scodelario and Giancarlo Esposito.

The reported acting talks come as Meghan and Prince Harry prepare for another major change in their family life. The couple are expected to return to the U.K. this month, with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, due to begin school there next month.

King Charles is understood to have been informed of the family’s plans and is reportedly welcoming the opportunity to spend more private time with his grandchildren.

The Sussexes reunited with the King in July during a U.K. visit that included tea at Highgrove House. The family also visited Althorp House, the former home of Princess Diana, where Harry’s uncle Charles Spencer now lives.

The timing of Meghan’s possible return to acting also comes as Prince Harry faces a significant legal bill. On July 7, Justice Matthew Nicklin ruled that Harry and six other high-profile claimants had failed to prove that Associated Newspapers Limited, publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, had unlawfully gathered private information.

In a ruling issued on August 21, the group was ordered to make an interim payment of £9.54 million, or about $13 million, toward the publisher’s legal costs. The final amount has not yet been determined.

For now, Meghan’s role in The Gentlemen remains unconfirmed. But if the early discussions lead to an agreement, the project would represent a notable return to scripted television for the Duchess of Sussex—and another significant chapter in her evolving relationship with Netflix.
