Mindy Kaling Reacts to Hulu’s Cancellation of ‘Not Suitable for Work’

Mindy Kaling is reacting to Hulu’s decision not to renew her comedy series “Not Suitable for Work” for a second season.

The cancellation was announced Monday, Aug. 24, less than three months after the show premiered in June. The series followed five young adults living in New York City’s Murray Hill neighborhood as they navigated life after college.

Kaling, 47, shared behind-the-scenes photos from the production on Instagram and thanked the cast, crew and viewers. “I love this show, I loved making this show, I love these people, and I love all of you,” she wrote.

The series starred Ella Hunt, Nicholas Duvernay, Will Angus, Avantika Vandanapu and Jack Martin. Victor Garber, Greg Germann, Judy Gold, Ego Nwodim, Harry Richardson and Constance Wu were among the recurring guest stars.

Vandanapu, 21, also shared a message thanking Kaling, showrunner Carlie Grandy, Hulu and Warner Bros. for the opportunity.

Kaling previously said the series was inspired by her own post-college years. She described that period as a time when she had “so much to say and having so much to offer” but limited access to opportunities.

“Not Suitable for Work” is currently streaming on Hulu.
