Nicole Kidman Opens Up About Divorce, Family and Moving Forward

Nicole Kidman is focusing on family and moving forward after her divorce from country singer Keith Urban.

In a recent interview with British Vogue, the 59-year-old actress said dealing with the end of her 19-year marriage to Urban feels different from her highly publicized divorce from Tom Cruise in 2001.

Kidman said her main priority is her children. She shares daughters Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15, with Urban. She also has two adult children, Bella, 33, and Connor, 31, from her marriage to Cruise.

The actress said she wants her children to know they are loved and supported. “It’s OK, we’re here,” she said, describing the message she gives them during the difficult period.

Kidman also reflected on marrying Cruise when she was just 22. She said she was deeply in love at the time and did not worry about how the marriage might affect her career. Despite those concerns, she went on to build a successful career, including winning an Oscar.

She said she has generally approached life by following her feelings rather than overthinking decisions. “I lead with my heart,” she said.

Kidman acknowledged that her future now looks different from what she had expected. She said the experience has been frightening at times, but she is choosing to move forward with hope rather than withdraw.

The actress also credited her mother and another woman who helped raise her with teaching her to accept that life is not always fair. She said she knows her character, talent and identity, and that mistakes or difficult experiences do not define her.
