Rosie O’Donnell Reflects on Past Tension With Whoopi Goldberg, Says They’ve Moved On

Rosie O’Donnell says she has been asked to return to The View but has declined because of past tensions with cohost Whoopi Goldberg during her most recent stint on the daytime talk show.

Speaking on The Tangle podcast ahead of a guest-hosting appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, O’Donnell said she and Goldberg had a difficult working relationship when they shared the Hot Topics table in 2014. She said she had expected the pair to work closely together but felt things "didn’t turn out that way."

O’Donnell recalled visiting Goldberg before joining the show and said they had a positive conversation. However, she claimed their relationship became strained early on after she cut to a commercial while Goldberg was still speaking, which she said upset Goldberg.

Despite the past conflict, O’Donnell said the two have since repaired their relationship. "We’ve gotten past it because we’re grown-ass women," she said, adding that they both support women in the industry.

Goldberg also hinted at their improved relationship earlier this year when she shared details of a reunion with O’Donnell at a Broadway performance, praising her former cohost and saying she looked "amazing."

While O’Donnell says her relationship with Goldberg has improved, she acknowledged that her long-running feud with former View cohost Elisabeth Hasselbeck remains unresolved. The two recently exchanged public comments on social media after revisiting their widely known on-air clash from 2007.
