Samara Weaving Reportedly Cast as Emma Frost in Marvel’s X-Men Reboot

Samara Weaving is reportedly set to play Emma Frost in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men film, according to Deadline. Marvel has not confirmed the casting and declined to comment.

The report says director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige chose Weaving after meeting with several candidates. Emma Frost, a powerful telepath who first appeared as a villain before becoming a key member of the X-Men, was previously played by January Jones in X-Men: First Class.

Marvel’s new X-Men project has been gaining momentum since Schreier was hired to direct. The script is being written by Lee Sung Jin (Beef) and Joanna Calo (The Bear).

The reported casting is likely to generate excitement among fans who have been waiting for Marvel Studios to launch its own version of the X-Men following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019.

Weaving has had a busy year with leading roles in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Over Your Dead Body, and Carolina Caroline, further raising her profile ahead of the reported Marvel role.
