The “Team Trump” account posted the video four days ago with Swift’s 2020 song “August.” The video showed Donald and Melania Trump watching fireworks from a balcony, with text reading, “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president.” Its caption said, “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song!”
By Friday evening, the song was no longer available in the U.S. TikTok app. The video displayed a notice saying, “The copyright owner hasn’t made this sound available in your country.”
The reason for the removal has not been publicly confirmed. However, another Team Trump video featuring Swift’s “Father Figure,” posted in November 2025, also no longer has its original audio. A more recent Team Trump video using a version of “Red” still has the song available. A White House TikTok posted last November also continues to use Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia.”
Swift has publicly opposed Trump. In September 2024, she endorsed Kamala Harris for president, saying Harris supported rights and causes she believed in. Trump later posted, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”
Trump had also previously shared AI-generated images falsely suggesting that Swift endorsed him. He said at the time that the images were made by other people and that he was not concerned about potential legal action.
