Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Olyphant said he likes the new look, comparing it to Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong’s style. However, he said his wife kept pointing out his white eyebrows whenever they went out, leading him to start using brow gel during the show’s second season.
Olyphant plays Kirsh, a synthetic android working for the Prodigy Corporation in the Alien prequel series. He previously told Entertainment Weekly that the makeover was meant to make his character stand out, similar to Ian Holm’s android Ash in the original 1979 Alien film.
While Olyphant jokingly blamed creator Noah Hawley for the idea, he said they both wanted to give the character a distinct appearance. Hawley suggested bleaching the eyebrows along with the hair. Olyphant also said he experimented with his voice, mannerisms, and overall look to better portray an android.
