Usher Laughs Off Viral Clone Rumors

Usher has dismissed social media rumors that he used a clone or body double during recent concerts on his R&B Tour with Chris Brown.

The rumors spread after footage from Usher’s Aug. 7 performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey went viral. Some fans said the singer looked different in the clips and questioned whether he was actually performing.

Usher responded to the speculation on Instagram on Aug. 9. “Ya’ll are funny…clone? They can’t clone this??” he wrote, adding in another comment, “AI ain’t that advanced.” He also laughed at fans asking how the rumors started.

Some social media users had pointed to Usher’s hat and sunglasses, which partly covered his face during the performance, as they questioned his identity.

Usher, whose full name is Usher Raymond IV, is currently touring North America with Brown on their co-headlining R&B Tour. The tour began in June and is scheduled to continue through December.

The singer also recently made headlines after a fan appeared uncomfortable during a steamy onstage dance at his July 25 concert in Nashville. Usher stopped the segment and had the fan removed from the stage. Days later, he warned fans not to come onstage if they did not want to participate.
