Footage posted to TikTok showed the 36-year-old Harry Potter star dancing with a friend during Roan’s performance. The video quickly drew attention after the person who posted it realized Watson was among the festivalgoers.
Fans praised Watson’s unexpected appearance, with many noting her long-standing advocacy for women’s rights and gender equality.
Watson was also photographed later in the evening with Rodrigo, Sarah McLachlan and Stevie Nicks in a picture shared by Rodrigo on Instagram.
Daisy Chain Fields, an all-women-focused festival inspired by Lilith Fair, featured performances from Rodrigo, Roan, Doechii, Bikini Kill, the Breeders and Garbage. According to the festival’s website, its mission is to support education, dialogue and access to resources for women and girls.
The festival raised $20 million for nonprofit organizations supporting women and girls, including Planned Parenthood, the National Women’s Law Center, the Center for Reproductive Rights and Black Mamas Matter Alliance.
Watson has been a prominent advocate for gender equality for more than a decade. In 2014, she was appointed a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and helped launch the HeForShe campaign. She later founded Our Shared Shelf, a feminist book club focused on gender equality.
