Lionsgate announced Monday, Aug. 31, that Kalyn, 28, will play a character named Brock. The actor, who has gained recognition through roles in series including Off Campus and Gen V, shared a video of himself reading Freida McFadden’s novel outside a trailer, alongside the film’s official Instagram account.
“Welcome home, Brock,” the film’s Instagram account captioned the announcement. The Housemaid’s Secret is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Dec. 17, 2027.
Kalyn joins a cast led by Sydney Sweeney and Kirsten Dunst. Michele Morrone will reprise his role as Enzo, while Brittany Snow will play Marybeth and Paul Anthony Kelly will portray Douglas Garrick. Dunst, 44, is set to play Wendy.
The film is based on McFadden’s 2023 novel The Housemaid’s Secret, which follows the bestselling The Housemaid. Sweeney and Morrone previously starred in the first film, which earned more than $126 million in North America and over $400 million worldwide.
Director Paul Feig previously praised Dunst’s casting, saying in March that the Oscar-nominated actress “hits the part very well” and would be “very unexpected in this role.”
Amanda Seyfried, who starred as Nina Winchester in the first film, has also expressed interest in appearing in a future sequel. However, the book series moves away from Nina’s character after the first installment.
McFadden published a third book, The Housemaid Is Watching, in 2024. The Housemaid’s Secret is set to open in theaters on Dec. 17, 2027.
